C02. Wudang Mediation & Huan Yuan Practice

- 5 months (20 lessons, 30 hours)

 This course has 3 levels:

 1.    Elementary – Mediation (Sitting築基坐式):

There are many scientific and medical research showing that mediation (also named as ‘Dazuo’) has tremendous benefits to our physical and mental health.

- Sleeping:  According to a research by University of Illinois, US, a  meditation of 5-10 minutes per day, is equivalent to a 8-hour sleep, very effective to improve insomnia.

- Disease resistance:  meditation can reduce to susceptibility of disease by 50%; chronic diseases by 80%

- Happiness, reduce stress and soothe mood: mediation can let one feel comfort, joy, relax and peace of mind. This is because meditation can increase frontal lobe activities, secrete happy hormones or endocrine such as endorphins and serotonin.

- Enrichment: physically and mentally will feel fully enriched, because blood circulation is smoother, less burden to heart, pituitary secretion is more direct.

- Vitality: clear mind, smooth thinking, sharp eyesight and hearing, flexible limbs, full of energy. Everything becomes interesting, enjoy life.

More and more famous people practice meditation, just name a few: Mr. Bill Clinton (Former US President ), Mr. Bill Gate (Former CEO of Microsoft), Mr. William Ford (executive chairman of Ford Motor Company), Ms. Padmasree Warrior (Former chief technology officer of Cisco Systems), Mr. Larry Brilliant (Former CEO of Google), Mr. Rupert Murdoch (media tycoon), Ms. Oprah Winfrey (American hostess and television producer), Mr. Raymond Dalio (American investor and hedge fund manager), Mr. Gene Simmons (American musician), Mr.Tony Schwartz (American journalist and business book author), Mr. Robert Stiller (Founder of Keurig Green Mountain coffee), Ms. Arianna Huffington (co-founder of the Huffington post), Mr. Jack Ma (co-founder of Alibaba Group), Sir Run Run Shaw (founder of Shaw Brothers Studio), Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu (Chief Executive of Hong Kong), Mr. Kōnosuke Matsushita (founder of Panasonic).

Mediation is the quality Taoist’s internal cultivation method to nurture heart and keep physical fitness (nothing to do with religion Tao) . It serves as pre-practice of the Dan Force.  It is a way to prolong life, relax stress, nourish nature and enhance inner force (Internal Achelmy Practice內丹功). According to Chinese traditional medicine theory, mediation can make one communicate with one’s own body. This practice recuperates and nourishes internal organs. During  meditation practice, distracting thoughts decrease and Qi moves in the most natural way.  Thus, the life energy lost in daily life recovers.

Mediation helps one to reach the integration of man and nature in which worries will fall into oblivion. Persistent practice is good for one’s disposition and physical body. It is also the preparation to open up Ren Meridian (任脈) and Du Meridian(督脈). When vital energy circulates well, meridians have enough oxygen to activate cells to enhance immunity and self-healing power.  Through this, the chance of getting chronic diseases would be reduced. Through persistent practice, one would become peaceful, calm and healthy.

2.    Intermediate  - Small Circle (小週天功, Sitting) :

This is also in the form of sitting (can sit on a chair if there is difficulty in cross-legged sitting), more advanced Internal Alchemy. This helps the circulation of vital energy to open up Ren and Du meridians (打通任督二脈). As these two meridians circulate inside our body and support our main physiological functions, these affect and control our Internal Organs (臟腑), brain, and marrow. Their healthiness affects quality of life. Therefore smooth circulation in Ren and Du meridian, strong Qi and blood, with improving physiological function, health will be improved, filled with energy, have better protection from diseases, increase life expectancy.

3.      Advanced – Absorption and Replenishment (採補):

This is in the form of standing pose, a more advanced Small Cicle (Xiaozhoutin Gong 小週天功) in application. It helps to develop body’s breathing energy, collect and intake energy from Earth and Heaven, and nurture whole body’s energy. It helps practitioners to integrate internal and external energy.

Normally, our daily breathing is through nostrils.  However, if we can breath through whole body, in-take large quantity of Qi to blood vessels and Meridians, this will improve blood and Qi circulation, our body will be improved naturally. This method can be practiced during walking, sitting, sleeping and even lying-down.

This practice integrates Internal and External Triple Cooperation (內外三合) , consists of two components: dynamic and static methods. The dynamic method is the miniature of Taichi, which would adjust breathing, activate blood circulation, exercise tendons and bones, train internal and external six-mixtures.  The static method specializes in building inner force through training of the three valuables of human being, Energy, Qi and Spirit.

This advanced method will gradually elevate the External Triple Cooperation with the Internal Triple Cooperation.  These six cooperation or harmony is the essence of highest- caliber Taichi’s Interanl and External training.
