Introduction of Wudang Kungfu

Wudang Kungfu is the exemplar of internal martial boxing, which has the reputation of “North Shaolin, south Wudang”. The exquisite Kungfu boxing system combines kungfu with life nourishing practice. It emphasizes the adjustment of mind, respiration and body; binding of static and dynamic state; and self-cultivation.

This spectacular martial arts has the characteristics of restricting action with inaction, suppressing the strength with softness, deflecting tremendous weight with tip of power. Wudang kungfu moves like floating clouds, continuous without an end, binding firmness with softness. This displays an implicit style.

The kungfu helps develop one’s potential, inspires wisdom, recharges people with energy and spirit, strengthens physique, improves health and lengthens longevity. That’s why Wudang Kungfu is called the crystal of Chinese martial arts.

Wudang regards Zhang San Feng in Ming Dynasty as their founder and Great Grand-master. Wudang Kungfu is a collection of modern life science, fitness studies, Chinese medicine energy channel studies, Taoist regiment studies and Chinese cultural studies. It regards Taichi theory as its core which is divided into sub-systems of Taichi and kungfu, the perfect combination of the state of static and dynamic. Wudang Taichi and kungfu have been used for national defense in the past to self-defense in modern time. They help improve health, shape figure and improve beauty, nurture mind and spirit, relieve stress and provide art appreciation for fun. Continuous practice can improve mentality and physique, agility, and reserve vitality and spirit, finally lengthen longevity.

Before 1989, Wudang Kungfu was only learnt and inherited by pupils within Wudang regiment. Outsiders were not permitted to learn. Wudang Taichi does not simply refer to boxing routine, but also consists of Taichi, Liang Yi, Wuji (the regimen exercise includes regimen routine, Qigong, Nedan). The three levels of Kungfu build a system from the external to the internal, from beginner to advance level. Wudang Kungfu emphasizes softness, mingling static and dynamic and self-cultivation. It is fast like wind, static like a waiting tiger, strikes like lightening, and explodes like thunder. Wudang kungfu comprises martial arts, Dodge, hard Qigong and Sanda. Every move reflects the connotation and charm of internal boxing, and embodies high tackle value. Meanwhile, Wudang nourishing practice includes Qigong, health exercise and internal alchemy. The exercise, inheriting wisdom from Wudang Taoist practitioners for thousand years, stresses the cultivation of spirit, Qi and mind. It regulates physiology and psychology of human, improving the flexibility of body, circulation of blood and Qi. The nourishing exercise has been put into practice for generations and proves to contribute to  physical and mental health.
