US studies confirmed the efficacy of Taichi— CCTV live broadcast

Result of a recent study published by US researchers confirmed that practicing Taichi could relieve joint pain, reduce fatigue, strengthen bone and muscle, enhance flexibility and balance, improve mentality, and reduce stress. The study was carried out by researchers from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine. They published the result in American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting in Atlanta. In the research, 354 volunteers from North Caroline and New Jersey were randomly divided into two groups. Group A attended an eight-week Taichi exercise class, practicing twice a week. Group B did not practice Taichi. Volunteers participating in the survey must be arthritis patients and aged 18 or more, and can move freely without the help of others. The research found out Taichi was particularly effective to relieve various types of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. The findings were applicable to everyone as respondents were from different regions with different living environment.
