– “Chen Style Push Hand”

Taichi Push Hand requires two persons to twist their forearms together, entangle with each other. According to the Taichi principles: Attaching, Sticking, Connecting, Following, Flexible but Agile, Explode and Bounce; do not lose balance and do not counter-strike . Revolve and rotate lively, avoid opponent’s force and strike at opponent’s weak points, and win by skill not by strength. The practice combines Basic Combating elements which are Seizing, Taking, Throwing, Kicking, and Hitting, into its own skill. It applies the eight methods (warding off, rolling back, pressing, pushing, pulling down, splitting, elbowing, body strike) and different forces to
enhance the sensitivity of skin, agility of body, so that it reaches the status of preventing the counterpart from knowing yourself, instead knowing the counterpart in advance and using the counterpart’s force to subjugate. Chen Style Push Hand consists eight methods (warding off, rolling back, pressing, pushing, pulling down, splitting, elbowing, body strike).

While Taichi is the technique to know oneself, Push Hand is the technique to know others. The latter is an interesting, rare training of practical fighting. It is a rare of training of practical fighting, it has five sparring training methods. Learners have to be formerly trained with basic Taichi technique as prerequisite.
