Chen Style Taichi Introduction

Chen style Taichi was designed by Chen Wang Ting in early Qing Dynasty in Chenjiagou Henan Province. Based on ancestral boxing theory, combining with Chinese medical energy channel knowledge, breathing technique, Yin and Yang philosophy, the Chen style Taichi is both rigid and flexible, fast and slow, in line with human physiology, perfect for offensive and defensive situation.

Chen style Taichi has been hereditary in generations which makes it long lasting and enables it to develop continuously till today. It later evolves into different styles and schools of Taichi, such as the Yang (楊), Wu (吳), Wu (武) and Sun (孫). The boxing principles of Chen style Taichi are spiral, flexibility, blend of firmness and softness, transforming according to the objective conditions, forming Qi through thought. When practicing the Chen style Taichi, the strength extends from within. Only the practitioner knows what his next step is, thus changes and reacts to enemy action flexibly. Long term practice makes one more responsive in reaction and gradually achieve advanced kungfu level of “uprooting a thousand pounds with four ounces”.

Chen style Taichi is admirable for its art of attack, fitness and artistic quality. Continuous practice helps keep fit, self-defense, reduce body weight, relieve stress and reserve vitality.
